Shikrapur: Responding to demands made by members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation, the Shikrapur panchayat has purchased a tractor for speedy disposal of garbage.

The local residents had complained that the garbage generated in the four hamlets and the 10 suburban areas of Shikrapur was not being collected. The members of the Tanishka Foundation, along with senior panchayat member Sheela Karanje, had submitted a memorandum to Sarpanch Rambhau Saswade in this regard.

Saswade informed the delegation that the village panchayat had passed a resolution to purchase a new tractor of 22 HP capacity in response to the forum’s demand.

Members of the Tanishka Foundation performed pooja of the new tractor. Those present on the occasion included Sarpanch Saswade, Deputy Sarpanch Dilip Wabale, Director of Pune District Central Cooperative Bank Nivruttianna Gaware, Tanishka’s Group President Manisha Dhumal and forum members — Vidya Gajare, Chandrakala Virole, Manda Karande, Manda Pimpalkar, Swati Gunjal, Nirmala Patil and Nita Kalambekar.
