PUNE: Lohsar, a village in Pathardi tehsil of Ahmednagar district, became the fourth village in the district where at least one woman from every family has become a member of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation. Taradgaon, Dhondgaon and Jakhangaon were the previous three.
The event was celebrated by raising a ‘Gudhi’ in the presence of district collector Dr Sanjeev Kumar and police superintendent Raosaheb Shinde. The entire village was decorated with rangoli designs and ‘gudhis’ raised on each of the houses. The event was attended by a large number of men and women from the village. A rangoli designed on the line of theme conceived by poet Amol Bagul, attracted the attention of all those who were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shinde said that the police force will give preference to provide legal and emotional protection to women. Hira Gite-Patil, sarpanch, Anil Gite-Patil, deputy sarpanch and Bal Bothe, resident editor of Sakal also spoke on the occasion.
