Tanishka Women from Malkapur start their own venture !
After establishing a self-help group, the members of Tanishka Foundation from Malkapur have started their own business of selling and repairing sewing machines. This is a living example of the fact that Tanishka Foundation empowers the women of the society. Mrs. Swati Dolas, Tanishka Group Co-ordinator created a group of local women and kick-started with the meetings.
The formation of group helped the women to exchange their thoughts which ultimately leads to empowerment. After the exchange of thoughts, majority of members in this group came to a conclusion of starting their own business.
Together, they came up with a plan and started the business of selling and repairing sewing machines. They also received a grant of Rs. 3 Lakh from the Municipality’s State Civil Livelihood Campaign. It’s been almost 6 months that the group members are running this business successfully. Within six months, 22 machines have been sold. The yearly turnover of the Self-Help group is around Rs 42,000. “Tanishka Foundation has always been a big support for women in rural areas. This is a great platform that gives strength to start small business,” said Mrs. Swati Dolas.
