Akurdi: Besides focusing on empowerment of women and allied activities, members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation have been engaged in several activities aimed at reaching out to the deprived sections of society.

One such activity was recently conducted in Akurdi.

Deciding to celebrate the festival of Diwali with a difference, members of the Tanishka Group in Shahunagar visited Ratnavihar, the school for visually challenged to spend quality time with the students. The school run by Patashibai Ratanchand Manavkalyan Trust, had members of the Tanishka Group led by Supriya Chandgude interacting with the visually impaired students.

During the interactions, they understood the problems faced by the students and promised to find solutions to them. They also organised an entertainment programme and different competitions, which was enjoyed by the students.

KB Khandagale, the principal, gave details about the functioning of the school and also displayed several items created by the students. He also requested the Tanishka group to help the organisation ensure that they get their monthly grants in time.

Tanishka members Kalpana Jadhav, Dwarka Bhargude, Ranjana Mahaveer, Vaishali Khairnar, Vaijayanti Supekar, Kalpana Patil, Lalita Thenge, Chhaya Patil, Rekha Chandgude, Chhaya Ghadge, Shobha Darkunde, Ratnamala Kadam, Rekha Chudasama, Meenal Hingane and Swati Gaikwad had organised the visit. The students were treated with sweets prepared by the Tanishka members themselves.
