PUNE: Members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation celebrated Vat Pournima all over the State by performing a puja of the banyan tree and taking an oath to conserve the environment.

Last year, a large number of Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation members had planted banyan trees in their respective towns. This year, they performed puja of the same trees.

In Pratapnagar in Nagpur, Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation members performed puja of 11 banyan trees and planted an equal number of banyan saplings. The saplings of the biggest banyan tree in Mhasave in Satara district were planted at the Sakal Media Group’s Taloja Printing press at Navi Mumbai, Kothrud and also at the Smriti Van located in Aurangabad. Tree plantation and sapling distribution drives were also undertaken at Mundhwa and Dhankawadi, Mahatma Society and Shivtirth Nagar in Kothrud, Pune. Vat Pournima was celebrated in other cities too.
