PUNE: Workshops will be conducted by Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundations all over Maharashtra on March 8 on the issue of water scarcity. Women from various parts of the State will participate in workshops to mark the International Women’s Day.
Saam Television channel will cover these workshops live. The members of the Forum will get connected to each other through these workshops. The workshops will be held in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Nashik and smaller towns like Sangola, Pandharpur, Ahmedpur, Sillod, Ichalkaranji, Aheri, Sakri, Chopada, Manchar, Baramati among others.
The Tanishka women’s teams are excited about the workshops. Saplings will be distributed at some places while the women in Aheri will perform the traditional dance to mark the event. Folk artiste Jyoti Tiward will create awareness on the water issue through folk art in Pandharpur. Street plays will be performed at some places while hoardings have been put up for creating awareness in Manchar.
A state-level workshop of the Tanishka Foundation s was held in Mumbai in March last year. Many suggestions and solutions were suggested. The workshops being held on Saturday (March 8) is a step to take the cause forward.
Tanishka members have been successful in getting water schemes worth Rs 2-2.5 crore in villages in the last one year. They are also participating in crop management. They have desilted wells and bunds in fifty villages in Maharashtra. Several social organisations have congratulated Sakal Media Group for encouraging women to take up the issue of water management.
During the workshops on Saturday, selected Tanishka members from across the State will raise their queries on water to experts on Saam TV.
