PUNE: Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam lauded the Tanishka Stree Pratishtha Abhiyan of Sakal Media Group, during his visit to the city, on Thursday.
He appealed to make efforts for 33 per cent reservation of women in Parliament through this initiative.
Talking to Saam Marathi channel, Dr Kalam expressed the hope the initiative by Sakal Media Group will benefit women in various ways. “The Tanishka Stree Pratishtha Abhiyan can be instrumental in getting the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament. Such initiatives are necessary for empowerment of women,” he said.
Union minister of women and child development, Krishna Tirath has wished success to the Sakal Media Group’s Taniksha Stree Pratishtha Abhiyan. Speaking to Saam Marathi, Tirath said that women should be made aware of their rights.
“Women should get benefits of all the schemes available to them in health, educational and various other sectors,” the minister said. The Sakal Media Group’s initiative in this regard is commendable, she added.
