Lead by the village sarpanch Santosh Pawar and Vasant Sanap, the Jamkhed correspondent of Sakal, 200 women formed the Tanishka groups in the village. Previously, Taradgaon villages in Jambkhed had become the first village to have all the women join as members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation while Dhondpargaon followed suit.

The villages has a total 223 residents, 25 of which have migrated elsewhere for employment and other reasons.
The forms submitted by 200 women were ceremoniously handed over to Bal Bothe, Resident Editor, Sakal Ahmednagar by Swati Shinde and Sunita Shinde.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanap said, “We were watching through Saam Television and Sakal the way in which Tanishka was spreading all over Maharashtra. On understanding the importance of the movement, we decided not only to start the activity in our villages but to ensure that the entire village joins in. Accordingly, the decision was implemented. Bal Bothe gave details about various activities and initiatives being launched by Sakal.”

Tanishka is gaining momentum in villages and is evoking an overwhelming response from women all over. The activity is expected to create an awareness among women of Dhondpargaon about their rights and duties.

Police Inspector Patil promised to give priority to all issues raised by the Tanishka members. While women are expected to lead the movement for dispute-free areas, other members of Tanishka should take the lead in it, he opined.
