
Pune: Water expert DM More appealed to the members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation to question the politicians about the mismanagement of water in view of the elections. Former member secretary of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, Rajendra Holani, said the urban Tanishka members should concentrate on propagating less use of water.
The women from across the State, who had done their homework well, asked the experts about the various aspects of water scarcity during the interaction across Maharashtra.
The members from Solapur wished to know about the measures to deal with the recurring water crisis in Marathwada. The members from Nashik spoke about the water disputes between different regions and districts in Maharashtra.
Protesting against the huge number of pending irrigation projects, the members from across the State sought measures to resolve the same. They expressed their distress over the apathy of the people’s representatives.
Women from Navi Mumbai wanted to know why all industries were allowed to be set up in and around Mumbai as it aggravated the water woes in the capital.
The experts answered the queries to the satisfaction of the women.
