Tanishka members call for tree plantation

24Pune: To create awareness about the need to plant and preserve trees, members of the Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation came together on Saturday, to organise a rally to create awareness about the subject and plant trees atop the Taljai hills.

Led by Ashwini Kadam, who headed the group of Tanishka members participated in a rally which went through the Aranyeshwar area creating awareness about tree plantation, Carrying decorated saplings in their hands, a group of women, comprising working women and students, went up the hills shouting slogans and distributing pamphlets about the need to plant and protect trees.

The event was organised to mark the traditional Vat-Savitri festival. The rally attracted the attention of every passerby as the participating women sang songs and played traditional games.

On reaching the top, the group of women planted more than 50 saplings.

Besides, Member of Parliament (MP) Vandana Chavan, the event witnessed participation of a large number of women (members) including Suvarna Vaichal, Deepali Kadam, Manik Hitti, Madhuri Achari, Sanjeevani Badve, Dipti Talekar, Swati Kulkarni, Vibhavari Khanapurkar, Nishigandha Padamvar, Sneha Raut, Shobha Shah, Urmila Dabi, Manisha Date, Sushila Lalwani, Swati Siddheshwar and Mandakini Kale.
