Pune: Tanishka Women’s Dignity Foundation will celebrate its first anniversary on Gudhi Padwa, on Monday.
Members of the Forum all over the State have decided once again to raise the Gudi of women’s dignity to celebrate the event. The women members, who held various programmes last year to usher in social change, will resolve to hold various activities next year too. The Forum was launched with the raising of the Gudi at Shree Ambabai temple in Kolhapur on Gudi Padwa last year. The Forum groups have planted thousands of saplings, insisted on various facilities, including public toilets and an efficient public transport system. Liquor sale was banned in five villages.
With the help of Sakal Social Foundation, silt from wells in 50 villages was removed. The initiative helped solve water problems in these villages.
The Forum has helped women to be financially independent. Sakal’s Call Centre (mobile no 9225800800)) also provided guidance to women. The Forum members will raise the Gudis in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Konkan and other parts of the State. Gudis will also be raised near Ambabai temple in Kolhapur and Vitthal-Rukmini temple in Pandharpur.
